We recently demonstrated our commitment to the local community by sponsoring a Beverley youth football club, Whitestar Falcons under-14s.

The sponsorship is the latest grass-roots community support we have committed to.

Marketing manager, Debbie Page, said: “This is part of our commitment as a local company to support the community in which we work and that sponsorship of this local girls’ team was an ideal opportunity to do exactly that.

“It also helps us promoting active and healthy lifestyles among children – this is important to everyone at Claughtons and we hope that our sponsorship will help to promote the value of exercise in young people, as well as encourage many more youngsters to get active.”

The club was formally known as Beverley Athletic in 1920 and then changed the name to Beverley White Star AFC in 1921 before going in to win the County League Cup in 1927, later becoming a feeder club for Hull City AFC.

Since then, many junior teams have been spawned, with the girls’ teams really taking off in recent years.

Beverley WhiteStar Falcons currently sit in second place of the East Riding Girls Football League under-14s Division 2.

They have won four and drawn one of their games, and although 11 points of the leaders, have three games in hand.

Anthony Green, the team’s coach, said: “Everybody is delighted about the sponsorship. Claughtons has an active involvement in the local community and the team is very grateful for its support. The girls are already playing in their new kits and we hope the association can continue. We hope to have a long and happy relationship.”
