To play our part in helping the region’s younger people, we have supported the Hull-based Sewell Group, by getting involved with their ‘Skills Academy’ program. The academy is very much a ‘hands on’ project to raise employability awareness of young people whilst providing an insight into current and prospective job opportunities in the Humber region.

Claughtons, nominated employee Mike Harrison, a time served joiner to join some of the sessions offering mentoring and his extensive expertise and knowledge in the world of bespoke furniture creation. Because quality is essential when it comes to gaining an edge for potential employment, Mike has been demonstrating what it takes to become the best in the furniture manufacturing sector.

Mike said; ‘It is humbling to know how much my experience is appreciated and I hope that it helps them on their way to achieving employment. I’d like to thank Claughtons for giving me the opportunity to help out and I look forward to being involved in the future.”

Gerard Toplass, Managing Director at Claughtons, said: “I believe it’s important to give back and support younger people wherever we can. Mike is an experienced role model and sharing his wealth of knowledge is a great way to inspire and motivate young people to aim high. That is what grabs the attention of any employer.”
